So, I'm one of the three creators involved with Erstwhile fairy tale comics. Each of the comics is written by Gina Biggs and then she, Louisa Roy, and myself have been rotating illustrating duties.

My comic, the Bird, the Mouse, and the Sausage is posting right now :) I did all the art for this one in 2008/early 2009, so at the time I thought nothing of Bird's jaunty bowtie.

Three years later Matt Smith has totally coopted the maroon bowtie as fashion statement, so now all I can think of when I see the Bird is Doctor Who. For my own amusement (and in honor of the story posting online for everyone to see) I decided to do a proper mashup.

Amy!Mouse is my favorite.

Oh man. I just read "The Bird, the Mouse, and the Sausage" and it is so beautifully drawn, but so sad. And yes, I saw the bird's bowtie and couldn't help but think of our Doctor.

You know, bird's tophat is the perfect disguise. Until I saw him with the Fez I didn't even realize he was the Doctor. Now I can't not see it either! Super cute :D

You're involved with Erstwhile!?!?? Oh my goodness, I *love* those comics!!! I love the Doctor Who mashup idea, it's great! My favorite in the group, though, has to be Rory the Sausage. :D
